Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was arrested early Monday in connection with an assault at a bar that left a disc jockey with facial injuries.
The England midfielder was celebrating after Liverpool extended its lead atop the Premier League to three points with an emphatic 5-1 victory at Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.
Police arrested the 28-year-old Gerrard and five other men at 2:30 a.m. in Southport, and Gerrard remained in police custody, a person close to the investigation said on condition of anonymity.
Officers began interviewing the suspects Monday afternoon and expected the questioning to continue until late in the evening. Gerrard’s wife, Alex Curran, was seen near the police station but drove off without answering reporters’ questions.
Gerrard is Liverpool’s most influential player and crucial to its bid to win the English league title for the first time since 1990, scoring twice and setting up another goal in Sunday’s win.
Tip Of The Day:
Sports champions and athletic people can eat huge amounts of food without becoming overweight. This is because the exercise they do burns up the food before it turns into extra body fat. If you exercise or are physically active, it will stop you from getting too big. If you are not physically active, and eat more food than your body needs, it will store in your body as loose fat and make your body spread out.Prevent this now and using alternative mesures to save your life

Gerrard will be released, nothing will come of it. Let’s all pretend to be surprised when the alleged victim decides not to press charges and the incident is swiftly forgotten when he scores the winner against Stoke a week on Saturday.

If Liverpool win the title this year, it’ll be against all odds. Despite Stevie G going down with every invisible touch in the box.
